The Ozello Shrimper website is big but it doesn't have to be difficult to use. In fact, we have gone through a lot ofg effort to make it easy for you. Read through this article to understand how we built the site and how you can find your way around it. We think you will be surprised how easy it is. If you are interested in finding out how to use our forum or store, please look at the Forum Help and Store Help sections of this site.

Top Menu

Top Menu Bar

The top nanavigation menu is located imediately beneath the Ozello Shrimper site logo / header. It organizes all of the content of the site into easy to use categories. Clicking each of the menu tabs will open a new page or a menu for you to choose your preferred destination.

The titles are self-descriptive but sometimes the menu control can get a little tricky. Let's look at an example.

Drop Down Menu (Click to Enlarge) This is the Information tab of the Top Menu. When you move your mouse over it or "Hover" without clicking, it automatically expands beneath the cursor. If you move the mouse over the menu options, the menu automatically expands like an accordion. The options to the right are subcategories of the Announcements section.

Clicking any of the words will take you to the section with that name. If you click "information" you will be taken to the information summary section. If you click Tools, you will be taken to articles about Shrimping Tools and Information. The tab at the top is a section and the menu options below it are categories of articles for you to choose from.


Left Menu

The left menu appears on only a few pages in order to maximize the room we have available to show you interesting shrimping information. Even though it doesn't appear often, it contains important information. It is your personal menu for our site and your personal information will appear there when you are logged in.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Let's look at the left menu when you first arrive at our site, before you log in.

As you can see in the image to the left, there are three sections on the left navigation menu when you first arrive at our site. The first is a section that allows you to login if you have an account, create an account if you do not have one or have the website remind you of your username and password if you forgot it.

The second section is the current moon phase. It is the exact moon phase for the very moment you are looking at it. A nice touch that helps make planning your shrimping easier.

The third section is our Latest News. It contains links to the most recent articles on our site, listed by title. If you click the link, you will be taken to that article.

If you have already established an account with Ozello Shrimper, go ahead and log into the website using the small form in the top of the Login Menu. If you haven't, follow the directions located here to get an account and then come back to this screen.



Logged In

Once you log into the website, the left navigation bar changes.

Left Navigation, Logged InIn the section where you just typed your username and password, your personal avatar (photo) from our forum appears. If you do not see an avatar, you can go to the forum and configure your personal settings in the User Control Panel to add one.

Beneath the personal avatar you will see a summary of the personal messages waiting for you on the forum and a link that will allow you to quickly see all the new messages that have appeared on the forum on a single page. This page will allow you to quickly see all new messages in every forum without needing to search for them from the main forum menu.

Your User InformationYour User Account Details are available by clicking the links directly below the LogOut button. This links will take you to a page where you can do routine things like change your name, username, email address or password. It is advisable to change yur password routinely and keep your email address up to date. You do not need to provide your real name if you do not wish to do so. A screen name or alias is acceptable.

Underneath the user information link is a link called My Comments. Every article on the Ozello Shrimper website has a comments box at the bottom for people to share their thoughts on an article. If you are logged into the site, you can post comments without approval from an administrator and they will be immediately visible to visitors. All comments that you make can be viewed by clicking the My Comments Link. You can also subscribe to an articles comments and mark comments as favorites for future use. Visitors to the site can post comments but they will not be visible on the site until they receive administrator approval. This is to prevent spam, advertising and offensive posts.

Beneath the Latest News box is a new addition to the left menu. It is called Forum Activity and it provides links to the most recently discussed topics on the Ozello Shrimper Shrimpers Forum. If you click the link, you will be taken directly to the discussion. It also indicates who the original message was created by and when they created it.

This left menu is visible only from the main page of Ozello Shrimper and serves as your personal dashboard for navigating our site.




Searching

Google Seach Powers Ozello ShrimperThere is a lot of information on our website and it can seem a little overwhelming to locate what you are looking for. Thank several years of good information and member contributions for the pile of stuff to dig through. If you are having difficulty locating content using our top menu, give our search engine a try. It is located in the uppe right hand corner of every page.

Our search feature is powered by Google and provides results just as fast. All search results are limited to the Ozello Shrimper website. Type in keywords related to what you are looking for and it will provide you with a list of article or pages it thinks match your query.

Sitemap

Still haven't found what you are looking for? Give our sitemap a look. It is located at the bottom of the information menu on the top navigation menu. it is a complete directory of all article created on this website. It does not include our store or forum due to their complexity but most answers can be found there. It is the modern equivalent of a book index and has a similar format.
