New here,...howdy all! I've been trying to find out if there is an actual Shrimping season up here in NW FL. Can't seem to find any info on it online. Certainly don't want to be in violation if there is a regulated season. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Hi Jmac,

I did a bit of research for you based on your question and am currently waiting for a response.

FWC in the NW region believed that the Florida Division of Aquaculture had jurisdiction for shrimping but, they actually indicated otherwise - that shrimp didn't fall under their coverage.

So, they were nice enough to put a request in with the law enforcement office for the State to get a clear answer for me. I am awaiting a response now and will be able to get you something solid soon.

According to the State Saltwater Regulations ( myfwc.com/media/2075522/saltwater_regulations_chart.pdf
myfwc.com/media/2075522/saltwater_regulations_chart.pdf ), shrimping is closed in April and May in the following counties: Nassau, Duval, St. Johns, Putnam, Flagler & Clay. Otherwise, they recommend you contact your local FWC field office to determine if there are any local closures. You can find those offices here: myfwc.com/contact/staff-contacts/regional-offices/
	myfwc.com/contact/staff-contacts/regional-offices/

I suspect that outside of those closure counties and dates, that recreational shrimping should be legal pretty much anywhere but, let's wait until State Law Enforcement gives the go ahead before declaring it.
