3-31March 31st (Wednesday): Tonight is a prime evening for shrimping despite the effects of the full moon. With tides like these, you go regardless of what the moon is doing. Expect to find the tide already far out and still heading out when you arrive at the beach. It will make a turn back in around 21:20 and give you until about 01:30 to get in some good shrimping time. The best times will be immediately at sunset when the tides will be nearly a half foot below sea level. Get there while the going is good.
4-01April 1st (Thursday): It's no April Fool's joke, tonight is a good night to go shrimping. Tides will be at sea level just at sunset and will continue their way out. You can expect to shrimp below-sea-level tides until midnight and below-average tides until nearly 03:30. By now the shrimping season is beginning to kick into gear. We probably won't see the large mass of shrimp that normally come in May but it won't be hit and miss out on the flats as the previous month most likely has been.
4-02April 2nd (Friday): The entire evening from dusk until dawn is a shrimpable event. Tides will be below-average all evening with a three hour window beneath sea-level. The tide will start to come back in around 23:00 and will make the water deeper but probably won't get uncomfortable until nearly 04:00. It seems like great conditions for a Friday shrimping expedition to me!
4-03April 3rd (Saturday): This is another perfect tide evening for shrimping. The tide will be just below average at sunset and will continue going out until midnight when it will be below sea-level. Don't expect it to come back in until nearly 07:00 and expect it to do so very slowly. This evening you can follow the tide out and then let it follow you in. Don't forget that tonight is a Saturday and you will most likely see a few more people than normal, especially if recent shrimping reports indicate good catches or if the media and newspapers are picking up on the season. These are all signs that people are catching shrimp and you can expect it to be a bit busier than normal.
4-04April 4th (Sunday): Tonight is great evening for shrimping. The tide will fall below-average about a half an hour after sunset and will stay there for the rest of the evening. You may get some sub-sea-level action between midnight and 02:00. Don't forget to pick up any garbage you find along the way!
4-05April 5th (Monday): The tide cycle is shifting again and that means that tonight you will need to get out a little later than normal. Water levels won't be in the right range until about an hour and a half after sunset. All tides will be below average after this point but you won't get any sub-sea-level conditions. The moon is on its way back to being a New Moon so this may begin to work in your favor now. Don't forget to pack a snack. If you are carrying any drinks, put them on your float instead of carrying them around. You will get more shrimping time in this way.
4-06April 6th (Tuesday): This will be a late evening, especially during the work week. The tide will not be at a good level until about 22:30 but once it is, you can shrimp until dawn. There will be no sub-sea-level shrimping to be found this evening but you can still get in some good time with below average tides.

4-07April 7th (Wednesday): Another late evening, really late. Don't expect to arrive until midnight and get in most of your shrimping before 03:00. After this time the shrimp normally calm down and disappear. The tides are shifting and the next few days may provide one more very late night of shrimping but you can expect the next week to be a no-shrimping zone once again.
4-08April 8th (Thursday): Tonight is just not worth going out unless you have absolutely nothing to do, the weather is perfect and you don't mind starting at 01:00. Don't expect anything spectacular for tonight's tides. They just aren't lined up right. Most people will plan to stay home and rightly so.
4-09April 9th (Friday): The tide will be coming in for more than the first half of the evening tonight and when it finally does turn back out, it will be extremely late and not very shallow. It really isn't worth getting all of your gear ready for a night like tonight.

4-10April 10th (Saturday): Another poor evening for shrimping. Shrimping cycles unfortunately mean that only every other weekend is good for shrimping. Such a shame to waste a good evening. Wish you shrimp well and tell them to eat up, next week we will be back in action.

4-11April 11th (Sunday): This appears to be the last bad evening in the current tide cycle. The tide will be coming in and staying above average until about 03:00. Stay home and get your gear in order, charge the batteries, clean your dive boots and prepare your plastic bags or shrimp numbering system if you have the shrimping bug.
4-12April 12th (Monday): This is a front-loaded evening of short duration. The tide will have already begun coming back in from low tide when the sun sets tonight. You should be able to get about three hours of shrimping in during the early evening before the tide goes back above average levels. The beginning of each favorable tide cycle starts with early evenings and ends with late evenings. It's between those two types of nights that the real fun hits. Get ready, the next optimum tide cycle is beginning.
4-13April 13th (Tuesday): This a perfect half-evening. The tide will be just below sea level at dusk and will return to average levels around 11:30. It looks like things are lining up right for this weekend to be perfect but for those of us who can get out during the week and want to get home early, tides like these are just what we are looking for. Tonight marks the first new moon and this will bring out more shrimp who normally duck under the grass blades to avoid the light. They should be standing on the grass blades at low tide if they are in the area.

4-14April 14th (Wednesday): Another perfect half-evening for the workweek. The tide will be below-sea-level at sunset and will remain below-average until about 01:00. Pack your gear in your vehicle before you head to work and go directly to the beach from your job. There are restrooms in the nearby park that you can use to change in if needed. Get out on the water before the sun sets to be ready to maximize the below sea-level tidal period that will hit right at sunset.
4-15April 15th (Thursday): The below sea-level tides are getting more pronounced and are falling at just the right time for us shrimpers. The lowest point of low tide will be about 1/4 foot below sea level and will fall about an hour after sunset. Expect to be able to shrimp until about 01:30. Tonight is the last workweek night of the week and the tides couldn't be better. Combined with the moon phase, you should have a fantastic time.
4-16April 16th (Friday): The conditions for tonight are almost identical to last night except you will get about an hour more shrimping time in. Expect to arrive before sunset and walk out onto the flats before the sun dips below the horizon. Space yourselves out and be courteous of other shrimpers in the area. Tonight is a Friday or perfect tides and moon conditions so expect to see more people than normal. Tonight is a dark evening. It is a New Moon and the moon sets early in the evening. Shrimp, if present, should be visible and out in abundance. Expect to maximize below sea-level conditions between 20:00 and 23:00 and continue to enjoy below-average conditions until about 03:00. Tonight will be a long evening if you so choose so don't forget to charge all of your batteries and bring extra bulbs out with you. If you bring a snack or drinks, please clean up after yourselves and if you spot litter, please do us all a favor and pick it up.
4-17April 17th (Saturday): This is one of the perfect weekends for shrimping. We have been quite fortunate this year in that the lowest of the low tides and the longest of the shrimping windows have occurred on Fridays and Saturdays. This means that those of us who can't afford to get out during the week will experience the significant tides that most often happen during the week. Consider this "shrimping leap year." Tides will be below average until nearly 04:00 with below sea-level levels between 20:00 and 00:30. The tide will be below average and on its way out when sun sets and will provide everyone with plenty of time to catch their fill. Five gallons are possible tonight!
4-18April 18th (Sunday): If you have a sick day or a floating holiday, tomorrow may be the day to take it if you had luck yesterday or Friday. This tide cycle is exactly where it needs to be to catch shrimp provided they have arrived in mass. Expect the tide to be below average at sunset and don't expect it to return until dawn. You will find below sea-level conditions between 21:00 and 01:30 making tonight like shooting fish in a barrel. Be careful around channels this evening. Even though the tide may have exposed more grass, that doesn't mean they are as stable as the rest of the area.
4-19April 19th (Monday): The bell curve for tonight's tide is a good thing and it is far from average. The tide will be going out when you arrive at dusk and will bottom out below sea level near 00:45. Follow it out and let it follow you back in. Unless you decide to take a nap on the water and wake up in the morning, the tide will not be above average levels all evening.
4-20April 20th (Tuesday): Tonight begins the late evening period of the tidal cycle. Expect to get out to the beach around 21:00. The bottom of low tide will be around 02:00 and will be below sea-level. The tides are favorable but just won't fall early in the evening like they have over the past few days. Don't forget to report your catches on the forum!

4-21 April 21st (Wednesday): So continues the late evening period. Tides will be above average at sunset and won't dip into favorable territory until 22:15. So, arrive around 22:00 and expect a little water. The rest of the evening and earl morning will be below-average conditions but the majority of us will find that our boss has other plans for our mornings.
4-22April 22nd (Thursday): This is a back end loaded evening. The only people catching shrimp will be those brave enough to go out after midnight. Tides will never dip below sea-level and the small three hour window between midnight and 03:00 may be less of an incentive than most to go out. Stay in and enjoy cooking up some shrimp with a recipe from the Ozello Shrimper web site.
4-23April 23rd (Friday): Some nights are best spent in. Tonight will offer no real opportunity for most people to shrimp. Expect the tide to be high for most of the evening and very little opportunity to shrimp early in the morning. This appears to be the bad weekend in the current cycle. Let's look forward to the next.
4-24 April 24th (Saturday): It's just another bad shrimping Saturday. Next week will be better. The tide will be coming in at sunset and won't make the turn to low until nearly 02:00. Stay in and prepare to go out next weekend. With all the spare time on your hands, feel free to let us know how you have been doing and compare your catch on our forum!
4-25 April 25th (Sunday): This appears to be the last bad evening before the early-evening shrimping cycle returns. The tide will be coming in at sunset and won't turn to low until 03:00. Even then it will not drop much below average and that won't even be until near dawn. Perhaps now is a good time to practice fishing?
4-26April 26th (Monday): This is the first early-evening night of the cycle. The tide will be near sea-level at dusk and returning to average levels around 22:30. You can expect to get about two hours of shrimping in before the conditions turn unfavorable. This doesn't present the best opportunity for shrimping but it could give you a few hours to shoreline shrimp with your kids if you need something to do.
4-27April 27th (Tuesday): Tides will be below sea-level at sunset and will be recovering back to average around midnight tonight. This should give you about four hours of quality shrimping, maybe more if you get out to the beach early an are waiting on the water when the sun sets. The moon is approaching full and this will have a suppressive effect on the shrimp but how much of an effect is debatable. What's your theory? Share it with us on the forum.

4-28 April 28th (Wednesday): As sunset tonight the tides will be nearly a half foot below sea-level. Expect to see the tops of the grass flats peeking above the water line when you arrive. This will continue until about 22:00 this evening when the water level will make its turn back toward normal levels. You should be able to enjoy below-average conditions until about 01:00. This is the beginning of the optimal tide cycle and this weekend should prove to be good shrimping if the weather and shrimp are holding up their ends of the bargain.
4-29 April 29th (Thursday): The tide will be below sea-level and still going out at sunset tonight. Expect it to bottom out around 21:00 at nearly a half-foot below sea-level and not return to average levels until 02:00. This is one of those tides that people who have to work during the week hate to see.
4-30 April 30th (Friday): What a great way to start the end of the week! The tide will be at sea-level at sunset and will reach about a half-foot below sea-level near 22:00. Expect to be able to shrimp in below-average water levels until nearly 03:30. The full moon will be visible starting at the bottom of low tide and will exert its effect for the majority of the evening.
5-01 May 1st (Saturday): Another great Saturday. Tides will be below average for nearly the entire night. Only those who insist on seeing the sun rise will experience normal water levels. There will be a brief period of below sea-level conditions between 20:45 and midnight that should provide plenty of visibility for shrimp sitting on top of the grass. The only problem is that this may matte down the grass and hide the ones beneath. Remember to look out for fellow shrimpers. Shallow water can get mucked up really quickly so maintain your spacing and hold a steady course.
5-02 May 2nd (Sunday): Once again, a great excuse to take a Monday sick day. The conditions are perfect for a Sunday shrimping trip. The water levels will be below average until 05:30, providing plenty of time to catch your fill. May is historically the best yielding month for shrimpers and you should be spotting shrimp on nearly every trip.
5-03 May 3rd (Monday): Tonight will provide below-average tide levels for the majority of the evening starting at sunset but super low tidal conditions such as those last Friday and Saturday will be elusive. This isn't to say that you shouldn't go shrimping though. Anything below average is reason enough to go if you can find the time during the work week.
5-04 May 4th (Tuesday): Tonight marks the beginning of the late-evening tidal cycle. Expect to get on the water around 21:00 and shrimp until you fell like stopping. There will be no super-low tidal conditions but they will most certainly be beneath the mean low water level (average.) The good news is that this coming weekend appears to be favorable so if you can't make it this evening, prepare your equipment for the coming weekend!
