Fellow Shrimpers, Assuming you were shrimping with a "holy" bucket and float to keep your shrimp alive, you will want to clean your shrimp outside or in your garage (I have a double sink in my garage for cleaning, packaging, storing, and freezing my shrimp.) Live shrimp can splash water everywhere and leave a little mess on anything and everywhere.Cleaning Shrimp Hold the shrimp's body in one hand. Grab the head with the other hand. Twist and pull the head off. If done properly, you will de-vein the shrimp. (You can only do this de-veining with fresh shrimp) Then rinse the shrimp with clean water. Packaging Your Shrimp Seal the Ziploc bag by squeezing all the air out of the bag. If no air can get to the shrimp, they can keep for a couple of years. Of course if you are a shrimper, there will be no need to keep shrimp that long. Have cook outs to use them up and make room for the next year's batch. Freezing Shrimp If you are a true shrimper, you will have an extra freezer in the garage full of shrimp. |
