Ingredients

For 6 serving(s) ()

  • 1 cup(s) Uncooked Grits
  • 3 cup(s) Milk
  • 2 cup(s) Water
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, Minced
  • 1 cup(s) Butter
  • 1 dash(es) Salt, to Taste
  • 1 dash(es) Freshly Ground Pepper, to taste
  • 1 pound(s) Shrimp, Peeled and Deveined
  • 3 cup(s) Grape Tomatoes, Halved
  • 3 cup(s) Grape Tomatoes, Halved

Florida Shrimp and Grits Directions

  1. Bring milk, water and 1 garlic clove to a simmer in a heavy, nonstick saucepan.
  2. Add grits and cook as package directs, stirring constantly.
  3. Watch the evaporation of liquid and add more milk if necessary.
  4. When fully cooked, remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons of the butter and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Heat 4 tablespoons of the butter in a nonstick frying pan and add 2 green onions, 1 garlic clove, and the shrimp.
  6. Sauté the shrimp until the shrimp turns pink, 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add the rest of the butter to the pan and melt.
  8. Top the grits with the shrimp and pour the butter on top.
  9. Garnish with 1 green onion and the tomatoes.
